Breast Way to Spend a Saturday
It’s pretty easy to get cynical and worn down with everything happening in the world today. Everytime you turn on the TV or logon to your favorite Internet news website you are told stories of bad people who do bad things. All drama aside, it wears on me.
Last night my brother inlaw called and told me that he wasn’t stopping by. Instead, he was going to be a good boy and go home. Not because he had to, because he wanted to. His wife was entering day 2 of the 60 mile Breast Cancer 3 Day walk and he wanted to show up at a cheer station to show his support. In an instant, I told him the helmblogger gang was going to go with him.
6:30 came early, especially after not getting to bed until 2am. We drove to about 25 minutes and got there about 1/2 hour before the first walkers passed by. The street was packed with pink clad well wishers, elaborate candy refreshment stands, musical tributes, and assorted chotski handouts
As the walkers passed by, those who lined the route did their best to encourage. Over the constant applause, “Good Job!” and “Keep it Up!” could be heard. Meanwhile, the walkers were saying “Thank you, thank you, thank you!!” It was cool to be there, be part of it, and today I’m a little less cynical.
